Medical Education Resources: Medical Education Books

A guide to show Medical Library resources that support research and teaching in medicine

Introduction

This guide lists books, both print and electronic, in selected subject areas. Only books published within the last 10 years are included. Unless otherwise stated, the books are held in the Dunedin Medical Library.

In this section, the books cover the Medical Library's holdings of texts that support teaching, arranged in subject groups (see the drop down menu). It is possible to add comments to each 'box': please do put in comments about the books listed.

The Library does have funds to purchase texts. If there are items that are missing from the Library's collections, please contact me: my details are on the right of this page. There is also a 'Book Recommendation' form linked below.

Recommend a book!

If you want to recommend that the Library add a book to this collection, please use the Book Recommendation form or contact Richard German directly.

Navigation

Each 'page' lists books in a subject area by subject or by year.

Print version

If there is a print version available, the call number (shelf address) of the book is listed (e.g. Call Number: W 20.55 T7 DP49). Clicking on the link (or book image) will take you to the catalogue record for the item: click on Get It to go to the catalogue record for the item to see if it's available to borrow.

Electronic version

Electronic availability is indicated when 'eBook' is noted next to Call Number. Clicking on the link (or book image) may open the book itself or the Library's catalogue record for the book, probably on the Details tab: click on the View It tab to get a link to the full text of the book.

If you are accessing the electronic book from off-campus (and often from on-campus, depending on the supplier of the e-book), you will be prompted for your University username and password.

There is information on using the Library's new Primo software here.
