Kew Gardens in London and Wakehurst is also a world leader in plant science and conservation, and maintains the Millennium Seed Bank. Kew works to discover and describe the world’s plant and fungal diversity, safeguard the world's plant life for our future, promote the sustainable use of plants and inspire an appreciation of plants and the environment.

The NYBG conducts global research to study and collect plants, investigate their properties and relationships to each other, to ecosystems, and to people. It runs a variety of educational programs for all ages, and the website provides access to a virtual herbarium, and index to American botanical literature and a global directory of public herbaria around the world.

The Dunedin Botanic Garden is New Zealand's first botanic garden and holds the status of Garden of International Significance. It has a wide range of horticultural and botanical collections, including a New Zealand Native plant collection, as well as plants from temperate climates of North Asia, the South, Central and North Americas, Southern Africa, the Himalayas and the Mediterranean.
