Gender Studies: Journals & Databases

These databases are highly recommended for finding Gender Studies related articles. Some are highly specialized while others contain diverse literature. If your research has a New Zealand focus, also check out the NZ Specific Databases tab.

These multidisciplary databases index citations between publications, allowing the user to easily establish connections between articles and ideas.

Google Like a Pro:

Did you know that there are over 40 search operators that you can use to search  Google more effectively, many of which can be used in  Scholar too?  Here are the top five that I use consistently, plus a Handout that we produced for a workshop for postgrads this year.

Keeping up-to-date with research - setting up alerts

Most research databases (e.g. ProQuest Central, Science Direct and Scopus) allow you to create alerts that will push information to you based on a search you've set up previously. This could be a search for relevant  terms/keywords, an author name or a journal specialising in your research area.
