Clothing & Textiles Resources at Otago

Because clothing and textiles research may involve several subject areas, relevant books and print journals or magazines may be located at the Central Library and the Science Library.

The Library Catalogue will specify which Library has a particular book or print journal.

The Central collection focuses on the social and cultural nature of dress, including aspects related to gender and psychology. Books on social aspects of dress are usually classified with call numbers GT500-GT2370.

The Science collection focuses on textile industries, design, manufacturing, and technical aspects of fabrics and fibres. Many of these books have call numbers that start with TS or TT. Print journals related to textiles are on the Third Floor.

The Robertson (Education) Library collection supports Otago Polytechnic, which offers a programme in fashion design, and features books and magazines on fashion design and designers.

Library e-books and e-journals are available anytime, anywhere from the Library web.
