Clothing & Textiles Resources at Otago

Clothing and textiles research may involve several subject areas.

Because of this, relevant books and print journals or magazines may be located at the Central Library, the Science Library, and the Robertson Library.

The Library Catalogue will tell you in which campus Library a particular book or journal is located.

The Central collection focuses on the social and cultural nature of dress, including aspects related to gender and psychology. Books on social aspects of dress are usually classified with call numbers GT500-GT2370.

The Science collection focuses on textile industries, design, manufacturing, and technical aspects of fabrics and fibres. Many of these books have call numbers that start with TS or TT. Print journals related to textiles are on the Third Floor.

The Robertson Library collection supports Otago Polytechnic, which offers a programme in fashion design, and features books on fashion design and designers.

Of course, e-books and e-journals are available anytime, anywhere from the Library web.
