Library Resources for Design
The Central Library collection focuses on the aesthetic, social and cultural aspects of design.
The Hocken Collections focus on the history of New Zealand and collects many types of materials in addition to books and journals, including posters, photographs, paintings, manuscripts, maps, and music. These are archival collections and some items may not be available for loan, which means you have to view them at Hocken.
The Science Library collection focuses on design technology, engineering, and manufacturing.
The Robertson Library collection supports Otago Polytechnic, which offers programmes in communication, product, fashion, and interior design, and it features books on many aspects of design studies.
Older items in the Library's collections may be located in Storage on Leith Street. To retrieve a Storage item, in its Catalogue record click on Make a Request and use the Call Slip function. The item will be transferred to the Library you select as the pick-up location.
Of course, e-books and e-journals are available anytime from the Library web.
