Citation generators

These can help you create references for the pieces of information you've used in an assignment. Some generators ask you to fill in the relevant fields about a particular source (article title, journal name, page numbers, etc.) and then format that info into a reference. Others will ask you to search for the piece of information (by isbn, DOI, title, authors, etc.) and then build the reference using the result found.

  • Cite This For Me  -  the app instantly creates a reference in any one of over 7,500 styles (including APA, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver).
  • ZoteroBib - a free resource made by Zotero and strictly a reference generator. Search for items by URL, DOI or keyword search and generate a reference in the desired style. A manual entry option is also available. A variety of citation styles are featured and there is no limit on the number of references generated.
  • Citation Machine - Generate references and citations in a variety of styles and find out why referencing is important.
