Library Search Guide: Details View

Helpful tips and assistance when using Library Search | Ketu, the Library's discovery tool

Resource Examples


1. Select Request to have the text issued to you and sent to a library of your choice to pick up, or for distance students, delivered to your home. Select Scan Request to have a section of the text scanned and emailed to you in PDF format. If these request options do not appear on your screen, check to see if you're logged in.

2. Use the call number to find the item on the shelf. The call number matches the letters and numbers on the spine label of the book.

3. Select the large to close Details View and return to your search results.

4. Policy indicates how long you will be able to borrow the item for. Please note that this time period differs between user and resource types.

5. Select the Author or Subjects link to perform a new search on the author or subject you select.

6. Select Find in library to view a floor map of the library and area where the text is located. 

7. Use these options to export the details about this text to various places, including Endnote.

8. Select the pin icon (pin icon) to save the item to your Favorites.

Skip to the bottom of the page to view the Virtual Bookshelf, and scroll to look at books in the same area. Click on any book to view its details.

  Use LibChat to contact a library staff member via instant messaging. LibChat is monitored from 9am-4.30pm Mon-Fri. Messages sent outside of these hours will be read and responded to on the next business day. Please indicate that you are an Otago Polytechnic student or staff member.

 Use Google translate to change the text to your language of choice.

 



1. Select the title to be taken directly to the article.

2. Select a database link to be taken directly to the article. In this example, the article is available from two different databases. It also gives the date ranges that provide electronic access.
