Seed Library: Welcome

Kā mihi nui ki a koutou.

We recognise and honour the mana whenua of the Ōtākou and Ōtepoti region being Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe and Waitaha.

We acknowledge our use of their whenua in which we have the privilege of living on, growing our kai and having our māra upon.

Kai te mihi, kai te mihi, kai te mihi.

Why a seed library?

The current cost of living crisis is affecting every member of our community in some way.
Fruit and vegetable prices are through the roof - so we thought we should try alleviate some of that pressure by providing some resources to grow your own food (and flowers) for as cheaply as possible.

Hence the Otago Seed Library was born.

This is a space where knowledge meets practicality. This initiative aims to empower our communities to tackle food security head on and foster resilience through self-sufficiency.

If this is your first time growing and saving seeds - or just need a refresher - this guide contains everything you need to know about growing your own kai.

How does it work?

The Seed Library is housed at the Robertson Library on Union Street. Come down and start planting!
