Day 3: Enhance Your Profiles

Enhance your online researcher profiles by adding profile photographs and keywords

Why: Building and maintaining researcher online profiles boosts your visibility, showcases professional achievements, and expands your research, and academic networking opportunities. 

The Basic Challenge: Choose your ORCiD, Web of Science Researcher or Google Scholar profile to enhance. 

The Advanced Challenge: Choose TWO (ORCiD, Google Scholar) or all THREE (ORCiD, Web of Science, Google Scholar) researcher profiles.

Note: If you do not have a profile picture, LinkedIn has some great tips here

TASKS: 

1. Add a biography

2. Add keywords (Research subjects etc...) #matāuranga Māori, #matāuraka Māori, Indigenous, Māori sovereignty, Māori data sovereignty

3. List important Professional Activities (memberships, service activities, distinctions, conference presentations etc..) 

4. Sync your Web of Science Profile with your ORCID to keep your ORCID and Web of Science profile changes and up-to-date. (This is called auto updates).

5. Check that your profile is open, so that is is discoverable.

TASKS: 

1. Add a profile photograph

2. Make your profile public, sections can be made private.

3. Add peer reviews you have done.

4. Sync your Web of Science profile with ORCiD, so they automatically update.

Tasks: 

1. Add a profile photograph

2. Add keywords for your research; this makes it more visible, e.g., #surveying, #RTK-based, #GPS, #PPP-RTK, #bridges, # structural engineering etc. 

3. Make your Profile public, it will be more visible in Google searches.
