Mendeley Reference Manager

Getting Started with Mendeley

Before installing Mendeley Reference Manager, you will first need to create an Elsevier account if you haven’t already done so.

Follow the steps below to create an account and install Mendeley Reference Manager:

  1. Visit www.mendeley.com and click on Create account in the top-right of the homepage.

  1. Enter your email address and click Continue. Handy hint icon
  2. Fill in your details and click Register.
  3. Click Continue to Mendeley
  4. Choose your role and field of study from the drop-down menus, or leave this blank, and click Continue to Mendeley
  1. This should take you to the Mendeley landing page. From here, you can click on the link to Download Mendeley Reference Manager:

  2. The Mendeley website will detect your operating system. Click on the button Download now for [Windows or macOS or Linux]

  3. Your download should begin straight away. Follow the usual process for installing software on your computer.
  4. Once Mendeley Reference Manager is installed on your computer, you can open the programme and sign-in with your Mendeley (Elsevier) username and password.
