Getting Started

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to your PhD with the University of Otago Wellington!
During the early stages of your journey, you will be spending a lot of time reading, familiarising yourself with the literature in your field and searching for a gap in existing knowledge. Now’s a great time to get to know your librarians, and find out what they can do for you.

Kia ora from your Reference Librarians!
Reference librarians

Donna, Susan, Michael and Kathryn are here to help you with your information search and management needs from the start of your PhD journey. We can help with:

  • Literature searching: databases, search strategies, systematic review advice.
  • Referencing software for thesis writers: EndNote, Mendeley.
  • Setting up email alerts and RSS feeds for recent developments in your area of study.

We are here from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Come in and see us, call (04) 385 5914 or email medlibref.uow@otago.ac.nz to make an appointment for help with these or any other library issues.
