Service aim: To create metrics reports at departmental/research unit or above using tools available to the University of Otago such as SciVal.
Service status: On request by HOD’s, Directors, PVC’s etc.
Outcome: Metrics reports include quantitative measures designed to help evaluate research outputs. They may include bibliometric or alternative metric (altmetric) indicators. The RSU is increasing its capacity to respond to requests for these types of reports at departmental level and above. Individual academics can approach their subject librarian for a personal report.
Researcher comments: "The RSU gathered together and processed an impressive quantity of information about the journals HEDC staff and students had published in over recent years. They then participated in a discussion session at HEDC, and made an important contribution by explaining some of the complexities around the use of publication metrics and how staff members could use them.
