Lisa has over 20 years experience working in Libraries both corporate and academic, in New Zealand and overseas. Prior to being appointed as the Research Services Unit Manager, Lisa was Subject Librarian to a number of social science programmes including Sociology/Gender Studies, Social Work, Social Anthropology, Archaeology and the School of Geography and Centre for Sustainability. Lisa has interests and knowledge in the areas of Open Scholarship, Bibliometrics, Research Impact, Research Data Management, Open Access, Digital Humanities and Information Literacy.
Justin has seventeen years experience working in Public and Tertiary Libraries. For the last eleven years he has been a Subject Librarian in the Division of Science, supporting a range of life and physical science subjects. Justin has developed an interest in bibliometrics, research data management processes and tools, as well as Open Access and open science principles.
Mandy joined the RSU in April 2022. Holding a BA(Hons) in Anthropology from the University of Otago, and an MSc in Forensic Science from the University of Auckland, Mandy has strong interests in both the humanities and biomedical sciences. Having worked as an Assistant Research Fellow in the field of complex disease genetics for 15 years, she comes to the RSU with practical research experience including data analysis, database management and publications. Mandy is particularly interested in open access and open science principles and data science skills. Mandy is the administrator of OUR Archive, the University's institutional repository of research outputs. She loves both coffee and cats.
Lei joined the RSU in 2024. Prior to this, he spent four years as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Department of Science Communication and the Department of Marketing of the University of Otago. During this time, Lei supported and conducted a variety of research projects across both natural and social sciences. Lei holds a BSc in Biology, an MSc in Ecology and Conservation, and a PhD in Science Communication, all of which underpin a strong passion for nature and wildlife conservation. He has been looking after a fock of ducks at the Water of Leith. In the research services sector, Lei's interests include research data management, bibliometrics and open access. Lei loves jasmine tea.
Nicky started in the RSU in 2024, before this she had been a Subject Librarian in the Division of Sciences supporting a variety of subjects for several years. She has worked in various areas in the university including gaining valuable experience as a Research Assistant in the Department of Management and at the Centre for Sustainability (CSAFE). She has worked in various public, school, and tertiary libraries, developing a broad knowledge in library services.
Her areas of interest include bibliometrics, research impact, and open access, with a strong focus on supporting the academic community in these areas. Nicky holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc), a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), and a New Zealand Diploma of Teaching.
Beyond her professional commitments, Nicky has a keen interest in science, languages, learning, and information technology, with a personal passion for coffee.
