Managing Your References: EndNote

Library support for EndNote at the University of Otago

Clarivate, the provider of EndNote, delivers excellent support for EndNote via email and chat as well as training videos and FAQs. The University EndNote subscription includes access to this service.

From September 1, 2023, all educational support and troubleshooting for EndNote will be provided by Clarivate.  Links to the Clarivate website are available from the Managing Your References guide https://otago.libguides.com/managingreferences/endnote 

Whilst library education and troubleshooting for EndNote will be discontinued, library staff will continue to support citing and referencing https://www.otago.ac.nz/library/referencing/index.html 

EndNote is a reference management solution with both a desktop and online component. EndNote users can synchronise all the references in one desktop library to their online library, and share the entire library with other EndNote users. Features include —

• Keep all your references and reference-related materials in a searchable personal library.

• Synchronize your references between up to three personal computers, an EndNote Web library and your iPad or iPhone through the EndNote Sync command. (You must be the owner and user of all three computers.)

• Set up a sharing team to grant access to your designated synced library and effortlessly collaborate with up to 400 co-authors and colleagues.

• Cite your references in word processor documents to create formatted citations, bibliographies or independent reference lists.

EndNote is available for free to all University of Otago students and staff. The software can be ordered and installed on your own device or accessed via the Student and Staff Desktop.

After you graduate you can still access your own EndNote Library but not software updates or syncing. EndNote Web access will revert to EndNote Basic functionality.
