Reference managers (also known as citation managers or bibliographic management software) provide many useful features to help you with your research. 

The University of Otago has licensed access to: EndNote and EndNote Basic (previously Endnote Web).  This guide provides information on these and other commonly used reference managers.  

Browse the guide tabs. Revisit the guide often for simple to technical answers, and which support services to consult.

What is a Reference Manager?

In general all good reference managers:

  • Store and organise your references
  • Generate citations and bibliographies in the style you prefer
