Research Services Unit: OUR Archive

Service aim: To support research centres, units, themes and departments to create open access copies of closed research using the Otago University Research (OUR) Archive, on request by HOD’s, Directors, Principle Investigators, etc.

Outcome: A 2019 CONZUL study shows that 3 out of 5 Otago articles are only available to people with expensive subscriptions. The same study shows that Green OA is cited 93% more than closed access researchIn collaboration with Richard White, Copyright & Open Access Manager, the RSU can support bulk identification and uploading of closed journal articles into OUR Archive to be made more accessible. In some cases this includes automating significant parts of the workflow to remove as much burden from researchers and administrators.
