Author rights

Articles from authors at participating institutions may be published under the following Creative Commons licenses:

  • CC BY

Authors retain all rights as per the CC license.

Further information about licenses is available on the publisher's website.

The Creative Commons licenses allow reuse (some with conditions) while protecting the authors' rights of acknowledgment as authors.

How to submit your article for open access publishing

The following instructions for authors have been provided by the publisher.

Corresponding authors from Publish and Read institutions will be identified using their email domains. Where a corresponding author’s email domain matches that provided for a Publish and Read institution, we will ask the author to sign our standard CC-BY Creative Commons licence and will publish their article OA without further charge, and without embargo.

Author identification
Corresponding authors will be able to check their fee-free eligibility and then indicate the Publish and Read route for OA during the submission process.

During submission Corresponding Authors are asked to confirm their eligibility for a Publish and Read deal whilst completing our submission form. They will see a screen requesting that they agree to publication which will include a notification that Editorial Manager has identified a funding agreement. To proceed the Corresponding author must view publication charges and select Yes.

We check corresponding author eligibility as part of the submission and publication process using email domain names. The corresponding author's affiliation must match the paying institution on the date of acceptance. These details should be reflected in the author's Editorial Manager account as well as in the manuscript file.

Providing correct affiliation information (including an institutional email address) is the responsibility of corresponding authors.
